A Superior Rating after 11 Years

23 06 2008

Last saturday my best friend and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary.  The kids were at a friends house for an overnighter, so we planned on going out to the lake for a picnic and trail ride with the bikes but sadly my sugars were too low and I felt lousy.  Sooo… we ended up eating our “picnic” at home along with a few cocktails and played Canasta while watching House on dvd.  But we had a great time just being together and didn’t feel let down at all.   Now I know I am far from being a perfect wife but after 11 years I do think hubby would agree with this little quiz I took!

As a 1930s wife, I am

Take the test!

I’m working on getting some pics of recent spinning and my progress on the Pi shawl for next post, so stay tuned.   😉

Life is crazy good.

11 10 2007

I promise I haven’t forgotten the blog but I guess it just hasn’t been very high on the priority list lately. Here is some proof that I’m still here. I hadn’t posted any new pics of myself since I got new glasses and chopped my hair so here you go. The picture above is with my hubby and below is with my sister. Two of my most favorite people in the world. My best friends. I don’t get to see my sister as much as I would like since she is an hour and a half away in her sophomore year at OSU. I miss you sissy. She must be psyhic since she just called me after I typed that.

pretty girls at a wedding

I need to take some pics of recent stash enhancements, fall projects and such but until I get that done here are a few to tide you over.

These are Lacy Scallop socks. Pattern is by Sockbug and the yarn is Jojoland Melody Superwash purchased at LittleKnits.com

Here is what’s happening with the leftover yarn….little lacy socks for my joygirl.

This was the July SpunkyClub fiber, a yummy shetland wool in the colorway Celebration. It was my first time spinning Shetland but it won’t be my last. This is one third of the fiber chain-plied, when it’s all done it will become the yoke on a top-down raglan hoodie for the joygirl.

And there’s plenty more where that came from! Stay tuned!

P.S. For some odd reason I, (the small project knitter) have found myself in the midst of knitting not one but 3 sweaters!!!  Is the sky still blue?

Happy Birthday to Me!

2 07 2007

Today is my 31st birthday and I decided to buy myself a few presents.  As packages start to show up I’ll post them as birthday swag.  However I do want to go ahead and share one of my purchases with you.

Lolly is such an enabler! I’ve found my first project for fall, this yummy cabled vest from Patons. I’ve yet to knit an adult sized sweater but I’m thinking this could hold my attention since I don’t have to deal with sleeves. I’ve ordered Sierra Aran in the equally delicious Garnet colorway for it, as my first gift.

Hubby told me this morning that I’m finally getting my ipod nano from him and the kids!!!!  I’m soooooooooooo excited!!!!!  I want the green one! 🙂  It will be a huge motivator for me to get out there and get some exercise.   We will also be going to dinner with my family at the restaurant of my choice.   In lieu of parties for the adults in our family we either have a cookout or we let them choose the restaurant for all of us and then we all chip in to pay for their dinner.

Anyway, that’s all I have for today.  Sorry I don’t have pic’s for you but I did see something I want to share.  It’s gorgeous and I can’t wait for the pattern to be available!!

Have a great day!  I know I plan to.  😉

Celebrating 10 Years Together!

20 06 2007

Today is our 10th wedding anniversary.  I can’t believe time has passed sooooo quickly!

I love you honey more than I could ever tell you.  I plan on spending the next 10 years showing you how much you mean to me.  Thank you for being the man of God that you are and for loving me unconditionally.  Happy Anniversary Billy!

Fried Fish in my Inbox?

13 06 2007

That’s what happens when I have a busy week/end and don’t get a chance to blog.

My only son turned 6 years old on Sunday and we had a pirate party and fish fry complete with eyepatches and  “rum” punch.  Teddy, his cousin Billy, his Dad and his uncle Andy  caught the fish, some of which is pictured below (pre-fry).  Here are some pictures of all the swashbuckling pirate action.

On the fiber front, major progress has been made on my Larger Than Life bag and the Monkey gift socks.  Pictures will come tomorrow.  I’m getting ready to cut out a dress and start knitting a Flower Basket Shawl.  I’m also making out my list of socks to knit for the Summer of Socks once I’ve finished my Sockapalooza knitting.  I’m stalled on my spinning but not for long.  That’s where I’m at in a nutshell.  😉  Hope you all had a great weekend and a better-than-normal Monday.

A pattern has been chosen!

6 06 2007

Thank you all for chiming in with your votes!! Bayerische came in first, Baudelaire second, Poseidon third and Pembrokeshire fourth. After studying the patterns a little more in depth and agreeing with SB about the likelyhood of Bayerische ridding me of my hair prematurely, I’ve decided to knit Baudelaire for my pal. I think it will be beautiful in the teal CTH and I’ve been craving both lace and cables so it’s a good fit. I still really like Poseidon and Pembrokeshire and have added them to my list of socks to knit for the Summer of Socks KAL starting later this month.

While trying to decide on the pattern for Sockapalooza 4, I’ve cast on another pair of Monkeys! They will be a thank-you gift for my sister-in-law Juliet. (turquoise, brown and pink were her wedding colors last fall)

She and my bro-in-law offered to take our munchkins for a few days so we can go kid-less camping for our anniversary later this month. We were planning to go up to Estes Park for the Wool Market and camp there but the funds for that trip didn’t come in like planned. I’m disappointed but it’s the time alone with hubby that makes it all better!

In other news:

Fabric has been chosen, ordered, and shipped for lining my Larger Than Life bag! I’ll show pics as soon as it gets here!

I’ve decided to be daring and try navajo plying my nightshade singles. (I could use your prayers on this one!) I really want these socks to be hardwearing so it’s gotta be a 3-ply.  I’ve ordered a Natural Coopworth Sampler from Spunky Eclectic so I can spin up a solid yarn in the same fiber for the toes, heels and maybe the cuffs.

Hubby and I have decided to have a portrait done of the two of us for our anniversary! So I’ve pulled out my sewing machine to make a new dress for the occasion. Here is my fabric and the pattern. I’m planning on crocheting a filet strip to cover the trim on the dress and for the tie at the waist. The fabric behind it will be a slightly darker green I think. I’m going to try and start cutting out the pattern pieces today and iron the fabric I washed on the weekend.  Sorry the photo is a little dark.  I’ll try and get a better one once I get started sewing on it. 😉

I’ve been tagged with another meme by Bryony but this post is already long so I’ll save it for tomorrow. 😉

And we have Cast ON!

29 05 2007

5/27/07 ….. managed late night cast on for monkey sock #1, slated for Sockapalooza 4.

5/28/07 ….. finished 1 inch of twisted ribbing and worked 2 pattern repeats. (lace pattern almost memorized at this point.)

5/29/07 ….. pausing to record a total of 3 repeats completed, but not done for the day yet!

Now I understand all the hoopla I’ve been hearin’ ’bout Monkey.    🙂

What else I’ve been doing this past holiday weekend:

1) Discovering Raverlry at last!!!!! 🙂

2) Spinning up my first consistent laceweight plys from my Spunky Club fiber for May.

3) Celebrating my MIL’s college graduation with a party.

4) Hanging new curtains in my livingroom.

5) Thinking about the upcoming PROM!!! (more details to come 😉 )

Longer post later I promise! Now it’s past time for food!
